Robin's Camp
Robins Camp, now under new private management, offers an exciting resurrection of Hwange National Park's classic safari location. Robins Camp is located in the park's mountainous northern Basalt section, which is abundant in natural water with numerous seeps and springs. It is home to some of Africa's last large buffalo herds, with herds of over 2000 still sighted. It's no surprise, given the abundance of prey animals, that it also boasts the highest concentration of lions in the park. Robins is also noted for large populations of reedbuck, roan, sable, and tsessebe, in addition to the park's normal herds of elephants and other species. The frequent sightings of both cheetah and African Wild Dog are especially heartening.
The Acacia part of Robins camp located in the Western section has 18 units under thatch. Hand painted Matabele motifs adorn the interior and outside. Each room features an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water and high-pressure showers, an overhead fan for hotter days and a full mosquito net to keep mosquitoes at bay. All the rooms can be configured as twin or king apartments. Our local designer has elegantly furnished the rooms with recycled and local artefacts and materials. Eight Acacia rooms form a laager surrounding a central lapa area, which is a great place to unwind and speak with friends. The Acacia section is ideal for intimate parties of up to 40 individuals. The Eastern half of Robins Camp is more modern in style, with only two units under thatch. Each room features an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water and high-pressure showers, an overhead fan for hotter days and a full mosquito net to keep mosquitoes at bay. All the rooms can be set up as twin or king-size beds. Our local designer has elegantly furnished the rooms with recycled and local artefacts and materials. Each apartment in the Mopane portion has a covered veranda from which you can sit and observe the birds, squirrels, and mongooses.

There is a variety of activities on offer at Robin’s Camp including daily game drives and walking safaris. These are conducted by house guides who are there to make your safari experience as comfortable and interesting as possible. Due to the large area, the game and scenery differ. From desert scrubs on the outskirts of the Kalahari to granite hills, mopane and teak woodlands, and large grass plains flanked by palm trees and acacias. This landscape diversity supports a diverse range of fauna. Hwange National Park is home to one of the world's largest elephant populations, as well as over 100 species of mammals and around 400 species of birds. Other unusual species that are frequently seen include the Roan and Sable Antelope. Massive herds of buffalo can also be seen wandering Hwange's grass plains, thanks to an abundance of food.
