Swala Camp is located in Tarangire National Park; undeniably one of Northern Tanzania's most fascinating national parks. The camp offers a remote and private location in the park with no other camps around promising an exclusive safari experience. Activities at Swala include game drives in open safari vehicles accompanied by expert guides as well as walking safari. Accommodation is luxurious and guests can enjoy elegant safari tents with en-suite facilities offering spectacular views.
Tarangire National Park is noted for its elephant population and spectacular baobabs of every shape and colour. The parks name is derived from the Tarangire River, the parks only source of permanent water. In the dry season this river is the lifeline, attracting much of the game. Huge herds of elephant, Zebra, buffalo, wildebeest and rhino and lion enjoy this terrain and are frequently seen. The Tarangire National Park is also synonymous with two of the rarer game species; the greater kudu and the Fringe-eared Oryx. In addition, leopard and tree-climbing pythons often inhabit the trees.
This morning, guests are transferred from Tarangire National Park by light aircraft to the Serengeti National Park.
Kusini Camp is located in the South Central area of the Serengeti National Park. It sits exclusively in this remote region of the Serengeti, honouring guests with its secluded and unobtrusive position that curves naturally with a group of Kopjes. Here, the surrounding short grass plains provide the setting for the most spectacular natural phenomenon in the continent of Africa, the wildebeest migration, during which time the hordes amass around the camp for the birthing of their young. The migration comes with its own entourage, and the predators - lion, leopard and cheetah plus countless zebra, gazelle and other plains game add to a diverse eco-system that evolves around you during your stay.
The Serengeti Ecosystem is defined by the dominant annual wildebeest migration route and incorporates areas outside of park boundaries. The area around Kusini Camp is visited by the Migration between the months of January and April but it should be noted that this is a grazing pattern and therefore experienced in the general area for this period. The season between January and March greets the arrival of newborn zebra and wildebeest calves. The park, and the area around Kusini in particular, is noted for its lion and cheetah populations and excellent leopard sightings. Sites such as the nearby Moru Kopjes are also renowned for good resident game, particularly cats, all year round.
