The jagged Rwenzori Mountains form a backdrop on the horizon and there is a host of natural attractions in the immediate area that would add to a diverse safari experience in western Uganda. The most popular activities on offer are game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park, which incorporates some excellent game viewing, including encounters with elephant herds, giraffe, buffalo, and the iconic Uganda kob among other things. The tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha area of the national park are a highlight in the region, as are the chimpanzees who dwell in the Kyambura Gorge nearby. Guests have the opportunity to go on boat cruises and view wildlife from the water while a guide talks about the natural prestige of the area, or one can opt for bird watching walks and hikes exploring the crater lakes.
