Only a five-minute drive from the starting point of the gorilla trek and habituation activities, guests at the lodge have easy and convenient access to the start and end of the trek. There are 16 garden cottages hidden in the greenery with views of the natural wilderness, leading to one another and the main lodge via stone walkways. There are two-bedroomed cottages, which can also be used by families or groups, a restaurant, cosy fireplaces, and a large garden.

Gorilla Safari Lodge Game Viewing and Activities

The focal point of the safari experience at Gorilla Safari Lodge is of course the gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. This mountainous tangle of indigenous vegetation is part of the gorillas’ last remaining habitat on Earth. There are estimated to be around 400 gorillas in the forest, living in family groups. Guests will depart for their trek with a qualified guide and porters who can assist in carrying bags and cameras along the way, as it can be quite challenging if the gorillas are settled deep in the forest. The reward is overwhelming as the wild gorillas move around at ease, coming into close proximity with hikers, and offering an astonishing and unforgettable experience with these protected great apes. The forest is full of other inhabitants including an abundance of birds, other primates, mammals, and insects. There are birding trails, waterfalls, cultural opportunities in local communities, and biking trips on offer.
