Saadani Safari Lodge is situated in Saadani National Park on the north coast of Tanzania, approximately 100km (60 miles) northwest of Dar es Salaam. It is the only wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania bordering the sea. Saadani offers a unique blend of various ecosystems and guest will have the opportunity to experience marine life as well as fauna and flora. The lodge is situated in the heart of the Saadani National Park and offers a heavenly setting as well as an abundance of wildlife and spectacular scenery with the warm Indian Ocean lapping onto its doorstep. A variety of activities are available including game drives, walking safaris with Maasai trackers, snorkelling, fishing as well as river safaris.

Saadani Safari Lodge Game Viewing and Activities

Saadani National Park covers an area of approximately 1100 km² and it is the only wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania bordering the ocean. It offers a unique mix of both marine life and mainland flora and fauna. Approximately 30 species of larger mammals can be found here as well as numerous reptiles and birds. Apart from many species of fish, Green turtles, Humpback whales and dolphins can also be found in the ocean nearby. Tanzania's magnificent Wami River is home to plenty of hippo and crocodile close to Saadani Lodge. Flamingos are often seen in the shallow estuarine waters, as well as flocks of pelicans. The park is also home to a diversity of birdlife and variety of vegetation. Saadani's wildlife is abundant with lion and other predators in the area as well as a range of plains game including elephant, giraffe, kudu and large herds of buffalo. The landscapes are varied and distinctive combining coastal forests, acacia woodlands, open grasslands and the mangrove vegetation at the mouth of the river.
