Jongomero Camp is situated in the heart of the Ruaha National Park. This park is remote and offers visitors an authentic African wilderness experience and is one of the true wild and untouched wildlife parks in Tanzania. The remoteness of this park and its unique location in south-west Tanzania far from the hustle and bustle of any of the major cities offer a private safari experience. This enormous park consists of an area approximately 23 000 square kilometers in size and one of the most impressive in Africa. The game viewing and scenery at Jongomero Camp are truly spectacular and the Great Ruaha River offers large concentrations of game in the drier season. Ruaha National Park is home to approximately 20 000 elephants as well as an extraordinary diversity of general wildlife, plants and birds.

Jongomero Camp Game Viewing and Activities

Ruaha National Park is home to a remarkable diversity of animals, plants and birds with an estimated 20,000 elephants in the park. The birding is spectacular with a recorded 530 different species of birds almost half of Tanzania's bird species. The park contains one of the largest species counts of large mammal of any other park as well as the second largest population of wild dog in Africa; wildlife includes elephant, huge herds of buffalo, giraffe, zebra, impala, eland, hippo, crocodile, lion and leopard. Sable antelope can sometimes be seen in the Miombo areas as well as the springs in the Western part of the park. Roan antelope are also sometimes seen in the Eastern area of the park. Guests can enjoy superb walking safaris with an armed professional guide.
