Situated in a fantastic location right on the river, Ruaha River Lodge is the oldest lodge in Ruaha National Park. Game is drawn to the river from the neighbouring hills and you can witness great sightings of wildlife on your Tanzania safari from your cottage. Ruaha River Lodge is a two and a half hour flight from Dar es Salaam, with a thirty minute drive from the airstrip.Game viewing is spectacular in the area and Ruaha is also home to a few species associated with the parks further north, including Grant's gazelle and lesser kudu.

Ruaha River Lodge Game Viewing and Activities
Game viewing is ordinarily conducted during morning and afternoon safari drives in 4x4 vehicles; however, guests are also offered the opportunity to spend a day out in the park with a packed lunch, allowing plenty of time to explore and soak up the wild surroundings. Ruaha's unique position, at the centre of Tanzania, gives it an interesting cross section of birds, making it a fascinating park for the avid bird-watcher. Plenty of big game species occur in Ruaha, including elephant, large herds of buffalo, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, lion, leopard, especially good cheetah and even wild dog. Ruaha also has a few species associated with the parks further north, including Grant's gazelle and lesser kudu; it's an excellent park for wildlife.
