Ronjo Camp is a basic mobile tented camp located in the central Serengeti region close to the rather busy Seronera river area; however the exact location can vary every 6 months. It is a simple set up with a central mess tent alongside a campfire with deck chairs, which is where campers prefer to relax in the evenings. Ronjo Camp is a good options for slightly more outdoorsy guests, who are happy with the simpler, more easy-going nature of the place. The camp meets the current ecological requirements for energy (tent lighting and water heating), waste recycling and water economy management. A recommended stay of two to three nights will allow guests to get to experience the real "out of Africa" feel, whilst providing the chance to venture further afield should the game have wandered.
The central Serengeti consists of the plains woodland border and transition zone. In this area, the great Serengeti plains gradually diffuse into gentle rolling hills and the woodland habitat that dominates the western and northern regions of the park. The lion's share of the lodges are located in this region, as well as the park headquarters and the various research facilities. All these facilities are located here for good reason, as not only is this area centrally located but it also supports an amazing abundance of year-round, resident wildlife. The central Serengeti is home to the beautiful Seronera valley. Several perennial rivers run through this valley enabling many resident animals to thrive year round. Evenings at Ronjo Camp are spent around the fire for aperitif where a beautiful ambiance is created by the proximity of wildlife, low lighting from paraffin lamps and the campfire with the reassuring presence of the Maasai guards.
