Hotel des Mille Collines Highlights

During the 1994 genocide, Hotel des Mille Collines sheltered over 1000 Tutsi refugees from the Hutu militia; an episode that was brought to the attention of the world in the movie Hotel Rwanda, which was filmed in South Africa. It is a four-star international hotel with 112 rooms, set in large gardens in downtown Kigali. After extensive renovations, the Mille Collines hotel is thriving. Though not Kigali’s swankiest hotel, its new rooms come with air conditioning and plasma-screen TVs, and its Panorama Restaurant is one of the cities finest.
