Lake Malawi is renowned for its abundance and diversity of fish life and is home to a greater variety of freshwater fish species than any other lake on Earth; more than Europe and North America combined. Chintheche offers a variety of activities, including swimming, windsurfing, sailing and beach barbeques. Other activities include mountain bike trails, hiking, fishing, snorkeling and visits to the local fishing villages situated along the shoreline. South of Nkhata Bay, Chintheche Inn offers a wonderful broad, sandy beach and extensive grounds with splendid indigenous trees. Over 100 bird species can be found here, particularly water-birds, such as African Fish- Eagle and large colonies of White-breasted Cormoran
