The Masai Mara in Kenya is famous for its Big Cats. All the big cats have been seen in the Conservancy as well as elephants and a wide range of species including large numbers of giraffes, zebra, and antelopes. There are also less common animals which may be seen such as the long-necked gerenuk gazelle, lesser kudu and African wildcat. Apart from the big cats the Masai is famous for the world's greatest natural spectacle, the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti taking place from July to October.
Guests are taken on game drives to explore the conservancy in the camp's four-wheel-drive customised safari vehicles. The driver-guide is a wildlife expert and certified by the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association. On each game drive the vehicle will have a Maasai driver and a spotter. The daily programmes include morning and evening game drives in the conservancy, night drives and escorted nature walks, as well as a full day in the Amboseli National Park. with a picnic lunch. Selenkay Conservancy is a very exclusive wildlife reserve in the Mara eco-system, including resident lions and leopards.
Karen Blixen Camp is set on the bank of the Mara River in a private concession adjoining the reserve. It enjoys open access, but also privacy within the concession. Zebras, elephants and hippos drink from the river throughout the day offering superb game viewing.
Cottars 1920's Camp is an exclusive and private concession between the Masai Mara and Serengeti National Park. It is a good camp to see the migration as it enters and exits the Masai Mara - between July and October.
Little Governors' Camp was built in 1976 around a small waterhole that teems with wildlife and birds. It has a prime location in the Masai Mara, originally being the favourite safari location of Kenya's governors.
