Mahale National Park adds one of the most inspiring safari activities there is; chimpanzee tracking! While the chimps are the main drawcard for Mahale, you can also enjoy boat trips, diving and kayaking on Lake Tanganyika, forest walks to see other primates and learn about the plethora of forest dwellers. This safari runs from June to November every year.

Days 1 to 5 - Chada Kavati , Kavati National Park
From Arusha, you will take a scheduled light air transfer to Kavati National Park airstrip, from where you will be driven to your destination; Chada Kavati Lodge. This part of Katavi National Park is remote and offers superb game viewing opportunities; the valleys and plains around the camp are teeming with wildlife and offers large concentrations of hippo and crocodile, as well as the last great herds of buffalo in East Africa.
The intimate luxury tented Chada Katavi Camp is situated amid Katavi National Park, A true "off the beaten track" safari experience. Chada Katavi offers a unique position with magnificent views from its elevated vantage point. Each tent has wide open fronts with en suite bathrooms, authentic bucket showers, eco-loos and views from all angles. Enjoy a variety of activities including game drives and guided bush walks or simply enjoy the spectacular views from the privacy of your tent.
Day 5 – 8 Greystoke Mahale , Mahale National Park
After breakfast you will board a light aircraft for the short flight to the Mahale National Park, on the banks of Lake Tanganiyka where you will be met by your hosts. Enjoy a 90 minute boat trip to your camp; Greystoke Mahale. Enjoy 3 nights on a pristine beach with thick forest on the slopes of the Mahale Mountains.
Chimpazee tracking through the forests of Mahale Mountains, is home to about 800 chimps with one family group numbering a staggering 60 members. Hike through the dense forest to find a family to spend some time with. There are other primates in the forest as well. Other activities include swimming, kayaking, hiking and just relaxing on the beach.
Each of the wooden thatched bandas are in the forest line at the base of the mountain. Each has an ensuite bathroom with hot showers and flush toilets. There is a private viewing deck for each banda.
Day 9- Depart back to Arusha Airport

You will be transferred by boat to the airstrip to take a scheduled light air transfer to Arusha Airport in time for your onward travel arrangements.
