Bukela Game Lodge is situated in the malaria free, 6000 hectare Amakhala Game reserve just 40 minutes drive from Port Elizabeth. The area offers guests an opportunity to explore the Eastern Cape Province which is of significance to the South African cultural heritage. In addition, Bukela lies close to the pristine Eastern coastline, offering guests the opportunity to experience the mysteries of the bush and the majesty of the ocean.
Bukela Lodge is steeped in luxury and is of International standard. Each of the four suites Uthando (I love you) Suite, Ingwe (leopard) Suite, Inyathi (Buffalo) Suite and Umkhombe Suite are styled in simplistic African décor. These suites sleep 2 guests and are placed separately to the main lodge. Each suite offers en-suite bathrooms each boasting a spa bath overlooking the bushveld, both an indoor and outdoor shower and a fireplace which achieves the perfect ambience for romantic evenings. In addition, a private wooden deck, bar fridge and hot drink amenities are all on offer. Air-conditioning ensures guests remain comfortable, while bar fridges and automatic kettles are an added convenience. The main lodge consists of a reception, dining and sitting area with a central fireplace. In addition, a media and library area offering a television, DVD player, games, books and the internet allow for some entertainment whilst relaxing. An expansive wooden pool deck overlooks a small dam which is frequently visited by buffalo. A boma area adjoins the main lodge where guests can enjoy bush braais (barbecues) and other festivities. The lodge also has a pool. Dinner may consist of either an informal bush braai/barbeque in the boma consisting of a selection of decadent fusions of African tastes.
Bukela Game Lodge is home to the White Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Elephant, Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Serval, Giraffe, Black Wildebeest, Zebra and more than 12 species of Antelope. Smaller game which also inhabits the area includes the Bat Eared Fox, Vervet Monkey, Bush Pig, Warthog, Aardvark, Aardwolf, Spring Hair, Porcupine and Tortoise. For bird enthusiasts, approximately 250 bird species may be viewed, including the rare African Finfoot as well as raptors such as the Fish Eagle, Crowned Eagle and Jackal buzzard. A variety of insect and reptile species may also be discovered. The area is typically African valley bushveld, but is punctuated by a mosaic of wild flowers that are specific to the area. Of particular interest are the regal Aloes which proliferate, and which provide a dramatic landscape with their orange flowers. Expansive savannahs and riverine forests offer a diverse habitat for game. Game drives and guided nature walks are offered and lead by experienced guides.

Bushman’s River Lodge is situated in the Shamwari Game Reserve along the Garden Route in the Eastern Cape.
