Il Moran Camp Highlights

Il Moran Camp is situated along the banks of the Mara River in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya. The camps' tents line the winding banks of the river, with the best game viewing right on your doorstep. The annual wildebeest migration crosses the Mara River between July and September each year and the camp is perfectly situated for the migration. The camp was formerly known as Paradise Camp and had 20 tents. The owners decided to reduce the size of the new camp in direct response to their desire to preserve the surroundings and make a contribution to reduce the impact of tourists on the environment.

Il Moran Camp Game Viewing

The Masai Mara in Kenya is an area with a constant flow of wildlife throughout the year. From July to October the Masai Mara becomes the backdrop for the annual wildebeest migration. This is when 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra surge up from the Serengeti plains in the annual search for the seasonal grasses that sustain them. The spectacle as the vast herds cross rivers and sweep across the golden grasses attracts predators which are also drawn to take part in this dramatic event. Whilst the migration is spectacular, game viewing at other times of the year remains almost unrivalled anywhere in Africa. Birds, butterflies, hippos, elephants and leopards can all be found within close proximity to Il Moran. The bush lands around Rhino Ridge are also good areas for spotting one of the Masai Mara's 20 or so black rhinos. This area is also good for big cat sightings and the BBC's "Big Cat Diaries" is filmed in this area.
