Arathusa Safari Lodge is situated in the prestigious Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve in the Bushveld of South Africa and forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park.
The lodge provides an intimate, exclusive and private experience reserved only for a few as the lodge accommodates only ten people.
The area is known world wide for its quality game drives and the exceptional sightings. The qualified ranger and tracker ensure that guests are offered the opportunity to view and photograph the animals from as close as a few feet!

Camp Description
Arathusa Safari Lodge is an intimate one, completely open-plan and designed to harmoniously blend with the adjacent lake and African bush. With its hues of wood and thatch, air and water – it’s an extension of surrounding Africa.
The main living area is intended for comfort. Whether quietly reflecting on the view; reading a good book; enjoying compatible banter with friends or fellow safari go-ers - the warmth and charm of the camp environment is the foundation of the Arathusa safari experience. An crystal swimming pool overlooks the waterhole and is the perfect spot for wildlife viewing on a smoldering African summer’s afternoon. A traditional open-air boma presents guests with a novel way of appreciating an enjoyable meal under the stars to the sounds of the African wild.
A maximum of 10 guests are accommodated at Arathusa Safari Lodge. 5 thatched luxury suites each boast a king-sized four-poster bed, bathroom en-suite (with bath and separate indoor and outdoor showers), and a privatw verandah for optimum enjoyment of the surrounding wilds. Twin rooms are also available.
Additional facilities include a mini bar (stocked with a selection of beverages and snacks), an electronic safe, hairdryer, air conditioning, mosquito net and tea/ coffee making facilities.
Arathusa does not have telephones or televisions in the suites, allowing a truly “al dente” African experience.
Game Viewing
Arathusa prides itself on its’ leopard viewing. These territorial animals make their regular appearances in the area. Many of the animals become familiar and are easily recognized – thus many have been named. There is a female leopard named ‘Safari’ who is often seen around Arathusa camp.
Fourteen leopards are found in the area around Arathusa operate, 6 of which are seen on a regular basis. Large herds of buffalo, often in excess of 300 meander their way to the Arathusa lake, along with the region’s elephants. One need not move far to enjoy the safari experience! There are various lion prides in the area. Over 90% of guests will experience The Big 5; a perfect opportunity to see Africa at its best.
Activities that are on offer at Arathusa Safari Lodge are the wildlife game drives, the fly-in safari, safari self drive, walking/hiking, photography, birding and swimming. Two game drives go out everyday, and are taken in open-topped Land Rovers, with individual seating for maximum comfort.
On the very early morning drive guests are served refreshments under a thorn tree and on the sunset drive, drinks and snacks. You will view the animals face to face – in their natural habitat, and are accompanied by a ranger who knows the bush like the palm of his hand. His expert knowledge of the fauna and flora makes the experience that much more enriching. A bush walk rounds off the intimate experience that is Arathusa Safari Lodge.

How to get there
Closest airports are Hoedspruit or Nelspruit and then road transfer. Sun Safaris can arrange all transfers. Self drive to the lodge is also possible.
