The Jackal and Hide
Sister Camp to Sable Alley in the exclusive Khwai Private Reserve in the Okavango Delta, Jackal & Hide is a new authentic tented camp offering spectacular Botswana game viewing, Skybed experiences, water activities, and tranquility in nature.
Jackal and Hide Introduction
The location of The Jackal & Hide in the exceptionally managed Khwai Private Reserve ensures privacy of the safari experience on offer. The camp is simple, comfortable, and eco-conscious, and it offers excellent value for money. Its rustic canvas and timber construction is accented with soft organic tones to keep with the au natural feel of the camp. Only eight Meru-style tents keep The Jackal & Hide intimate and personalised and luxuriously peaceful, while there is the main camp area bringing guests together in a sunken lounge around a fire pit, and a thatched dining, lounge, and bar area.
- This camp is about simplicity in the wilderness, so there is no WiFi, allowing for a deeper connection with nature.
- Each Meru-style tent is raised on timber decking and has kingsize bed, en suite bathroom with indoor shower, and private verandahs.
- There is a swimming pool coming in mid-2019 to bring more comfort and relaxation to the bush camp’s offering.
- The thatched guest area overlooks grazing land that is frequently occupied by zebra and an assortment of Khwai’s naturally wandering wildlife.
- Children over the age of six are welcome, and can be accommodated with Mom and Dad in the two-bedded tents (double or twin).
Jackal and Hide Game Viewing and Activities
The game viewing and safari experience The Jackal & Hide is perhaps what makes this camp such great value for money. The concession is located in the middle of Botswana’s most celebrated wildlife areas, with Savuti in the north, Moremi in the south, and Khwai Community Reserve in the east. It is Okavango Delta paradise with access to the water, as well as the savannah woodland, and some Kalahari sandveld. Unsurprisingly, there is a great diversity of wildlife to see, from hippo, crocodile, elephant, lechwe, and other water-loving herbivores, to the rarer sable and roan antelope which amble between the giraffe, impala, kudu, and zebra. Not forgetting lion, leopard, hyena, wild dog, serval, and honeybadger! Activities include game drives, night drives, boat trips and mokoro excursions (seasonal), as well as a special starlight sleepout at Skybeds (pre-booked and seasonal), and excitement in the ground-level photographic hides.
The Ngwesi River Houseboat on the Okavango Delta, named after the feisty Tiger fish found in abundance in the Delta, is moored in Shakawe at Drotsky’s Cabins from where it operates. The Ngwesi Houseboat, consists of an upper and lower deck, and is headed by a licensed Skipper and trained staff.
Sango Safari Camp
Sango Safari Camp is nestled under the cover of trees overlooking the Khwai River, and gets its name from the original inhabitants of the Khwai area. The camp is located on the periphery of the village of Khwai and on the boundary of Moremi Game Reserve.
Saguni Safari Lodge
Idyllically located in the Khwai region of Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta, Saguni Safari Lodge hugs the gentle bend of the Mbudi Lagoon, welcoming an abundance of wetland-loving wildlife right to the vicinity of the tented lodge.
