Botswana is a productive paradise in the summer season. Beautiful floral displays and a kaleidoscope of colours are only rivalled by the explosion of new life: many species give birth to their young and predator sightings are frequent as they take full advantage of the abundance of inexperienced younger prey. to experience the summer highlights is to experience a special time in Southern Africa.
This eight-night package contrasts the wetland paradise of the Jao Concession in the Okavango Delta, the diverse habitats of the Linyanti and world-famous Victoria Falls from the Zambian side. transfers between properties are done by air or road or even boating in some instances.
Days 1, 2 & 3 – Kwetsani Camp, Okavango Delta
Kwetsani, one of the most remote camps in the okavango, is situated on an elongated island covered with palm, mangosteen and fig trees. Five beautifully furnished ‘tree-house’ chalets, each with its own en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower provide guests with open, airy accommodation of thatch, wood, glass and canvas. all are elevated and connected with wooden walkways. Guests can view wildlife by mokoro or experience outstanding game drives.
Days 4, 5 & 6 – Kings Pool Camp, Linyanti area
Named for Scandinavian royalty, this luxurious and stylish camp overlooks the oxbow-shaped Kings pool lagoon and linyanti river system. the lounge and dining areas are set on expansive decks, and there is a pool and an open-air ‘kgotla’ (boma) for evening dining under the stars. activities include day and night game drives, walks (subject to availability), and boat cruises along the linyanti river. two hides allow guests to spend their siesta watching game come down to drink. one overlooks the lagoon at the edge of camp, while the other is underground, allowing an eye-level view of the waterhole.
Days 7 & 8 – Toka Leya, Victoria Falls
Overlooking the Zambezi river and some of its islands is Toka Leya Camp. The camp’s dining and lounge areas offer ample space for relaxation. meals are served on the sundeck, the pool deck and dining room all overlooking the Zambezi. activities (on fully inclusive rate) include a tour of the Victoria Falls on the Zambian side, game drives within mosi-oa-tunya national park, river cruises, fishing and guided nature walks.
