Mana Pools

Some of the most exhilarating safaris take place in the Mana Pools National Park, also referred to as "the wild child of the Zambezi River". This area is definitely for the more adventurous guest, seeking close encounters with wildlife and nature. This part of the Zambezi Valley is wild and pristine with some of the best game viewing in Africa. It also contains some of the highest concentrations of wildlife during the dry-season in Zimbabwe. Canoeing along one of the greatest rivers in Africa truly is a unique experience. Mana Pools is also considered one of the best walking areas in Southern Africa.

Hwange National Park

The largest and one of the most beautiful national parks in Zimbabwe. This semi-desert, sub-tropical land was once home to the San Bushmen who made a living here and survived on herds of migrating game. The land was invaded by a Ndebele tribe and taken over as royal hunting ground, hence Chief Hwange of the Rozi tribe was forced out. During the nineteenth century the land was claimed by the white man and they got rid of the remaining game.

Lake Kariba

One of Africa's best hidden secrets. An inland sea in a landlocked country, protected by enormous reserves of game. It was built by damming the mighty Zambezi River, at the time the largest man-made lake in history. Some believe that the Nyaminyami "River-God" was responsible for the devastating flood in 1958 when many workers lost their lives. One of the biggest attractions of Lake Kariba is its abundance of game and breathtaking sunsets. Elephants can often be seen swimming from the islands to the mainland, a sight perhaps unique to Lake Kariba.

Victoria Falls

The Victoria Falls is one of the world's most incredible waterfalls. It can be seen from various angles and viewpoints and really is as impressive as its reputation. It is a mind-blowing experience and one can finally comprehend after visiting the Falls why the locals refer to it as "The Smoke That Thunders". Spray can be seen from miles away, at 1708 meters wide, it is the widest curtain of falling water in the world. An average of 550,000 cubic meters of water plummet over the edge every minute. Victoria Falls and the surrounding area have been declared a World Heritage site.
