Itinerary
DAYS 1 & 2: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
Your safari guide will collect you at your hotel in Victoria Falls
at 10h00 for a visit to one of the world’s most awe-inspiring
Natural Wonders – the Victoria Falls (a guided tour is included
in the safari fare). If you are flying directly to Kasane and do
not wish to visit the Victoria Falls, you will be collected from
Kasane Airport at 14h00 to meet your safari guide for lunch. It
is a 15-minute drive from Kasane, and a 1½-hour drive from
Victoria Falls to Chobe National Park in Botswana where you will
spend two overnights camping in the Serondela area of northern Chobe.
This is the heart of elephant country, and you may spend many hours
watching the huge herds in and around the waters of the Chobe River.
Northern Chobe boasts a large variety of bird and animal life, and
is renowned for its beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets.
DAYS 3,4 & 5: LINYANTI EXPLORATIONS’ WALKING
SAFARI
North of Savute is Linyanti – a forgotten corner of northern
Botswana which boasts a great diversity of game and birdlife. With
its mature woodland, beautiful lagoons and river frontage on the
Linyanti Swamp, it is one of the most attractive areas of Botswana.
Your Walking Safari with Linyanti Explorations is focused along
the Selinda Spillway – a watercourse linking the Okavango
Delta to the Linyanti Swamps. At The Selinda – a private wildlife
reserve covering some 1350 square kilometers (unfenced) –
a special area has been set-aside especially for Walking Safaris.
The walks take you along timeworn trails, through riparian forest
and open plains with great opportunities of viewing big game on
foot – including elephant, lion, cheetah, wild dog and various
plains’ game. The Walking Safaris offer an up-close-and-personal
wildlife experience, and are accompanied by a fully armed professional
trails guide and tracker. Enjoy the bush lore and tracking skills
of the experienced guides as they share their extensive knowledge
with you. Each morning, enjoy an approximately seven kilometre inter-camp
walk, and a casual, three-kilometre walk in the vicinity of each
trails camp in the afternoon.
Day 3: Spend your first night at either Selinda or Zibalianja Tented
Lodge which offer normal camp activities. Your trails guide will
brief you on your safari this evening.
Day 4: Depart early to arrive at your first overnight camp in time
for a delicious lunch followed by a siesta. Spend the afternoon
walking in the vicinity of the camp, and enjoy late afternoon sundowners.
After dinner, embark on a night game-drive seeking out nocturnal
animals. Spend one overnight in Trails Tents.
Day 5: After breakfast, depart on the next trail to arrive at the
overnight camp in time for a delicious lunch and siesta, followed
by a walk in the vicinity of the camp. Embark on a night game-drive
after dinner, and seek out some of the area’s fascinating
nocturnal animals. Spend one overnight in Trails Tents.
DAYS 6 & 7: SAVUTE, CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
Travel to Savute – excellent for lion and other predator viewing
throughout the year – where you will spend two overnights
camping next to the dry Savute Channel. Depending on the time of
year, huge animal concentrations are attracted to this area.
DAYS 8 & 9: MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE
After breakfast, depart for the final leg of the Linyanti Walking
Safari’s trail to arrive at base camp before lunch. Continue
overland to Moremi Wildlife Reserve – tucked into the northeastern
sector of the Okavango. Set-aside in 1963 by the Batawana tribe,
the Reserve is rated as Africa’s most beautiful wildlife sanctuary.
Spend your days on extensive game-viewing drives in this beautiful
Reserve.
DAYS 10 & 11: OKAVANGO DELTA
Travel by charter from Khwai – North Gate region of Moremi
– into the heart of the Okavango Delta. Explore the crystal-clear
channels, islands and waterways by mekoro (dug-out canoe), and enjoy
overland game-drives, and game-viewing on the islands. Spend two
overnights at a campsite in a private concession area.
DAY 12: SAFARI TERMINATES
After breakfast, you will transfer to Maun by charter aircraft where
your safari terminates.
