Days 1 to 2 - Olasiti Lodge, Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be met by your safari guide and transferred to Olasiti Lodge situated just outside the busy business district of the capital city, Arusha. Olasiti Lodge is a quiet sanctuary in a flower-filled garden amid the noise and bustle of one of Africa’s most hearty cities. Shaded by jacaranda, bougainvillaea and acacia trees, the hotel is a garden retreat located just moments from the city’s bustling centre and its attractions, including art and cultural institutions, shopping, nightlife and entertainment.

Here is where guests will spend one night before embarking on their safari incorporating the best bits of the famous wildebeest migration.

Days 2 to 4 - Whistling Thorn Tented Camp, Tarangire National Park

Waking up in Arusha will fill guests with excitement, as soon after breakfast they are collected at Olasiti Lodge, receive a short briefing on what is to be expected for the following 7 nights, and then set off for destination number 2 - Tarangire National Park. This well-known park has a high concentration of wildlife during the dry season, from June to October, mainly congregating along the Tarangire River.

A rustic, canvas tented camp awaits the safari-goers in a private wilderness that borders Tarangire National Park. Whistling Thorn Camp is set in a classic African thorn-tree bush in the Great Rift Valley with stunning views of the Escarpment. Run by Maasai locals, it has an authentic, African feel to it and is sure to be a memorable experience.

Days 4 to 6 - Endoro Lodge, Ngorongoro Crater

On day 4, guests depart Tarangire National Park and travel with their safari guide to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive before heading to Endoro Lodge in Karatu where the following 2 nights will be spent.

Located along the boundary of the Ngorongoro Conservation Authority, 0.5 km from the Endoro Gate, Endoro Lodge is situated in the Northern Highland Forest Reserve. The Forest boasts of over one hundred bird species, resident elephants, buffalo, baboon troops, and lion. There are many activities on offer near Endoro Lodge, including hikes/walks in the Ngorongoro Highlands, a visit to the waterfalls, elephant caves and cultural homesteads.

Day 6 to 9 - Ubuntu Tented Camp, Serengeti National Park

On the 6th morning, guests will be transferred from Endoro Lodge to Manyara Airstrip, where they will connect with a flight to Kogatende Airstrip then onto Ubuntu Camp. For the next three days, guests will enjoy game drives through the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Depending on the time of year, this semi-permanent moves to overlook the best areas for the migrating animals. The guides explore each area in depth based on their expert knowledge of the herds, the animal movements and guests’ requirements.

From July to October the camp is positioned to view the migration in the Northern Serengeti before it relocates to the Southern Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is a traditional, tented camp consisting of six canvas accommodation units with two lounge/dining areas. The camp is traditionally designed to balance safari and comfort. When the canvas sides are pulled back, it’s a breezy place to relax during the day, while in the evenings, this area is lit only by lanterns, giving it quite a magical feel.

Day 9 - Depart back to Kilimanjaro Airport

On the last morning of this Tanzanian river-crossing safari, guests are transferred to the closest airstrip in order to catch their local flight to Kilimanjaro Airport, ultimately connecting for their international flights.
