TORTILIS CAMP

Introduction
Tortilis Camp is situated on the southern boundary in Amboseli National Park in Kenya. Nestled in a verdant acacia grove, Tortilis Camps commands superb views of snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro. The camp is named after the flat topped Tortilis Acacia the Umbrella Thorn Tree. Tortilis has a reputation for its commitment to the environment with its simplicity, unobtrusive design and attention to comfort without compromising the ecosystem.
Camp Description
Tortilis Camp comprises of 17 spacious en-suite tents and 1 family house, of which there are 9 doubles and 8 twin rooms. The family house consists of 1 double and 1 twin room. Laundry services are included. The airy tents are raised on wooden platforms and sheltered by a Makuti (thatched) roof. Herbs and salads grown in the camps own garden, compliment the chefs traditional Northern Italian recipes. The open bar and dining area both offer breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Game Viewing
Amboseli is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants. The park is also home to large concentrations of Masai giraffe, Cokes hartebeest, Thomsons and Grants gazelle, zebra, duiker and waterbuck. Lion, jackal and cheetah are also abundant. Less common are the fringe-eared oryx and bushbabies. Most mammals stay around the swamps during the day before heading to the hillier plains in the south of the park before nightfall.
Observation Hill in the south of the park offers impressive 360 degree panaromic views over the park and surrounding mountains. To capture the elephants grazing in the swamps in front of Mount Kilimanjaro, you will need to wake early (before 7am). The elephants can be found in the Ol Tukai and Olokenya swamps.

• Bush walking with experienced Masai guides.
• Cultural Masai tours.
• Hilltop sundowners and relaxing at the swimming pool.
Child Policy
Children are welcome at Tortilis Camp. Early meal times and babysitting services are available. The experienced guides will make the bush walk or drive come alive for these young travelers.

How To Get There:
SUNSAFARIS can arrange scheduled flights from Nairobi to the Amboseli airstrip.
To/From Nairobi: Once daily, Air Kenya flies (1 hour) from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to Amboseli, departing at 07h30. Safarilink also offer a once daily flight from Nairobi, departing at 08h15. It is a 45 minute road transfer from the Amboseli airstrip.
To/From Mombasa: Air Safari fly (1 hour) to Amboseli from both Mombasa and Diani.
