SINDABEZI ISLAND CAMP Victoria Falls,Zambia
Introduction
Sindabezi Island is our private island paradise nestled in the waters of the Zambezi, upstream of the Victoria Falls. Not only is it is the only African bush camp
in the area, but the island is also the only bush camp that can be enjoyed exclusively as a private booking. Here, in our haven of natural tranquillity, you will truly
experience the sights and sounds of the African bush. From Sindabezi, the flood plain of the mighty Zambezi and the views of the wildlife in the nearby National
Park will capture your soul during Safari holidays.
Camp Description
Sindabezi Island sleeps only ten people, in five open fronted thatched chalets dotted around the shores of the island. The island is very rustic in style with
no electricity, wood fires and hot bucket showers on demand. The unique design of the chalets allows you to encounter up close all the sights and sounds
of the river and the creatures that live in and around it, including regular visits from Horace, our resident hippo. At night, you will fall asleep in the glow of a
hurricane lamp and be awoken by magnificent sunrises over the flood plains of the river.Your stay at Sindabezi Island Camp begins with either a short boat ride or a guided canoe trip down the Zambezi to the island. Along the way there are lots of
opportunities for game viewing, as we pass close to the shores of Zimbabwe where many animals wander from the Zambezi National Park to water at the rivers
edge. The main camp area is set on the sand and is the perfect place just to relax, unwind and simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this tiny island when on Safari holidays. Our staff are always on hand to guarantee your every comfort.
The camp is fully staffed and each member of staff acts not only as a host, but as a qualified guide, enhancing this unique African experience.
Activities
The chances of spotting game from Sindabezi are very good as we are situated just across the water from Zimbabwes second largest national park.
Often to be seen grazing on the nearby river banks are elephant, hippo, many types of game, as well as cavorting baboons and monkeys. One may even
be lucky enough to hear the roar of distant lions a sound you will never forget. There are also over two-hundred species of birds for bird- watching enthusiasts
At night, the main camp is transformed into a world of yesteryear, with the absence of electricity adding to the romance and charm of this magical island.
Five star dining on the sand, under the canopy of stars, with the river meandering past and the unmistakable sounds of hippos wallowing nearby, assure an
experience never to be forgotten.
