Introduction

Shumbalala – “where the lion sleeps”. Shumbalala Lodge is located in the heart of the Thornybush Game Reserve adjacent to the Kruger National Park. The reserve offers a huge diversity of mammal and bird species in an area of 10 000 hectares of pristine African Bushveld. Shumbalala Game Lodge offers superb game viewing and luxury accommodation.

Lodge Description

The lodge can accommodate a maximum of eight guests in four luxury air-conditioned suites with en-suite facilities as well as an outdoor shower. · The Presidential suite consists of 2 en suite accommodations. Superb cuisine and a walk-in underground wine cellar compliment the informal atmosphere. Shumbalala is the ultimate in luxury in service from arrival to departure. All suites line the banks of the seasonal Monwana riverbed. Facilities include a swimming pool, elevated viewing decks, conference facilities, curio shop, open air dining area and wine cellar.

Game Viewing

Shumbalala offers game drives in open Land Rovers as well as guided bush walks. Guests can expect to see lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, zebra and other general game on game drives. The birdlife is prolific. The day begins with a game drive of approximately four hours, accompanied by a qualified ranger and tracker. The night game viewing is an experience of its own. Nocturnal sightings might include bush babies, the elusive genet, or predators hunting and stalking their prey.
