SERIAN CAMP
Masai Mara
Kenya

Introduction

Meaning ‘peaceful, calm or serene' in the Masai language, Serian Camp is set in the tranquil shade of large Oleadendra and Walburgia trees in the secluded valley flanking the Mara River close to the Siria Escarpment. This is the charismatic bush home of Alex Walker, filmmaker and guide in the Masai Mara.

Camp Description

Serian has 8 en-suite tents. The entrance to each tent is through a screened door that zips close to form a total insect proof barrier. The en-suite bathroom includes a shower, twin basins, a large bush bathtub and a flush toilet. Each tent has a veranda from which you can enjoy a leisurely drink after a days' game viewing. Three main course meals are served each day, each flexible to fit in with the guests schedule. A personal butler is allocated to each tent.

Game Viewing

In 1974 the Masai Mara National Reserve was declared a wildlife sanctuary. When paired with the Koiyaki / Lemek Conservation area the guests have access to the greatest concentration of mammals on earth. Through July to October one and a half million wildebeest, zebra and topi pass through the Masai Mara, in what is known as The Migration. In their attendance are lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and possibly wild dog. Lion and leopard remain resident long after The Migration passes making the rest of the year no less exciting. Thompson and Grants gazelle, Coke' s hartebeest, wildebeest, topi, eland and impala are commonly seen throughout the year.
