Savuti Safari lodges Botswana

Recognised as a prime game viewing area, the Savuti (also spelt Savute), covers almost 1,930 sq. miles (5,000 square km) in the south west of Chobe National Park. The western edge of Savuti is encircled by the Magwikhwe sand ridge, 156 miles (100km) long and 65 feet (20 metres) high, which is the ancient shoreline of a super-lake that covered much of northern Botswana. It is difficult to imagine that this harsh dry landscape was once submerged beneath an enormous inland sea.

Savute Safari Lodge

Set among ancient camelthorn trees on the banks of the now dry Savute channel, Savute Safari Lodge is part of a dynamic eco system that is renowned for its concentration of elephant and large lion prides. Savute Safari Lodge accommodates just 24 people in contemporary furnished twin-bedded luxury suites constructed of wood, thatch and glass, making them ideal for the hot and dry conditions. Game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles in the Savute area, including the Savute Marsh and a visit to the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills.

Savuti Camp

Savuti Camp is situated in the southern part of the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve in Northern Botswana. It is built along the Savuti Channel and can accommodate eight guests at a time. The Savuti Channel is a legendary wildlife region, best known for its large number of predators. When the channel flows, water travels from the Linyanti marshes into the interior of Chobe National Park. The channel stopped flowing in 1980 and what was a Hippo~filled river is now wide open grasslands. Savuti Camp is a small and intimate tented camp in an isolated area, far from any crowds.
