SAMBURU INTREPID
Samburu National Reserve
Kenya

Introduction

Samburu Intrepids Camp is situated on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River in the arid heart of Samburu National Reserve. The camp looks out over riverbanks where herds of elephant, buffalo and zebra come daily to drink.

Camp Description

Accommodation comprises of 27 luxurious tents with modern en suite bathrooms with steaming showers. Each tent has a secluded veranda which overlooks the riverbanks. There thatched dining areas also overlook the river. Samburu Intrepids boasts a freeform oasis swimming pool and sunbathing garden, small conference room, boutique with souvenirs and safari essentials and a professional flex body therapy.

Game Viewing

Samburu Game Reserve is a lava plain that features steep sided gullies and rounded hills wherein the 32km Uaso Nyiro River provides both the central feature of the landscape and the lifeblood of the ecosystem. This is a dry country ecosystem and is therefore prone to large variations in the animal populations as they search for water. Poaching has completely wiped out the rhino herds in this area. The camp's location deep inside the reserve guarantees close encounters with the region's shier wildlife including elephant, lion, leopard and Samburu's unique five - the rare reticulated giraffe, long-necked gerenuk, antelope, Somali ostrich, Grevy's zebra and Beisa Oryx. Marshal eagles, pygmy falcons, hornbills and Egyptian geese can also be spotted.
