Mana Pools National Park Highlights


Mana Pools National Park is world famous for offering visitors an incredible wildlife and safari experience; situated in the midst of the breathtaking Zambezi Valley. The area is renowned as one of the best destinations in southern Africa for walking safaris and canoe safaris. Mana Pools offers visitors a private and secluded safari experience with spectacular river views, sunsets and endless floodplains. The mountains of the Rift Valley escarpment across the border in Zambia form a beautiful backdrop. The park is named after the four main pools which are remains of channels of the river which stopped flowing years ago. The pools offer permanent water year round attracting wildlife. The park is known for its magnificent and nutrient rich trees, albida, acacia and mahogany, attracting plenty of elephants; the abundance of shady trees offer the ideal environment for walking safaris.

Mana Pools National Park Game Viewing


Mana Pools National Park is famous for large herds of elephant and buffalo as well as predators such as lion, wild dog, leopard and cheetah. Greater kudu, Burchell's zebra, impala, warthog and common waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains as well as hippo. Mana Pools offers incredible birding, with the river and seasonal pans attracting plenty of water birds and a variety of species in the riverine vegetation and mopane woodlands. Local specials include Three-banded Courser, Western Banded Snake-Eagle, Arnott's Chat, Green-capped Eremomela, African Golden Oriole, Lilian's Lovebird, Böhm's Spinetail and Meve's Starling. Rare water birds include Rufous-bellied Heron, Long-toed Lapwing, Greater Painted Snipe, African Finfoot and colourful clouds of Southern Carmine Bee-Eaters. If guests are lucky enough they might see the Pel's Fishing-Owl. Activities at the camps vary but most include wildlife viewing in open 4x4 vehicles, boating, canoeing, guided walking safaris and some camps offer hides where guests can experience close encounters with animals.

Rhino Safari Camp


With its idyllic location along the shores of Lake Kariba and the magnificent Matusadona National Park on its doorstep, Rhino Safari Camp offers guests a safari experience of a lifetime. The area is remote and private and accommodation at Rhino Safari Camp offers the perfect combination between a mobile camp and a permanent luxury camp. Accommodation is offered in 6 rooms built on elevated wooden decks with thatch roofs and en-suite facilities. No electricity is available at Rhino Safari Camp and paraffin lamps add to the traditional bush-feel at night. Plenty of running hot water is available from wood fired boilers. The camp is known for their scrumptious home cooked meals served either upstairs or downstairs while watching a beautiful sunset or the wildlife wandering past. Activities include game drives as well as cruises on the lake accompanied by expert guides.
