Mana Pools National Park Highlights


The lower Zambezi Valley is home to the spectacular Mana Pools National Park; Zimbabwe's second World Heritage site, this area is teeming with wildlife especially during the months of June through to October. The park is popular for canoe trails as well as walking safaris and definitely not for the faint-hearted. Mana Pools is also known for its abundance and enormous beautiful trees providing shade and making it ideal for walking, the area is known as one of the best places for walking safaris in southern Africa. The "pools" which the park is famous for provide permanent water year round attracting an enormous amount of wildlife. Close encounters with animals are offered and the best way to explore this magnificent park is either on foot or by means of a canoe down the Zambezi River. The best time to visit the park is from May to October; however temperatures can be fairly high towards the latter part of October.

Mana Pools National Park Game Viewing


Mana Pools National Park is located in the heart of the Zambezi Valley. The area offers a wide variety of habitats, open floodplains, mopane woodland and riverine forests as well as large acacia and mahogany trees. The canopied albida trees attract elephants for their nutritious pods. The area is renowned for large numbers of elephant, buffalo, hippo and eland, especially during the winter when they concentrate along the river. Predators such as lion, leopard and wild dog are all found in the area. The Birdlife is incredible, particularly for both mopane woodland and riverine species with numerous local specials like Collared Palm-Thrush, Racket-tailed Roller, Purple-banded Sunbird and Black- throated Wattle-Eyes. Activities offered in the park usually include wildlife viewing in open game vehicles as well as on pontoon boats, guided walks and canoe safaris.

Chikwenya Camp


Chikwenya Camp has been rated by many as one of their favourite camps in Africa situated in the world famous Mana Pools National Park. Chikwenya offers a unique location, incredible game viewing opportunities as well as expert guiding. The emphasis at Chikwenya is the serene Zambezi River, vast endless floodplains and the abundance of wildlife. The area offers magnificent photographic opportunities with tall acacia trees that dot the floodplains and the mountains of the Rift Valley visible in the distance. Chikwenya offers only 9 tented rooms with en-suite facilities as well as an outdoor shower or bath "under the stars". Other facilities at the camp include a pub and lounge area under thatch. Meals are enjoyed outdoors underneath the trees or on the deck. The camp also has a swimming pool.

Kavinga Bush Camp


Kavinga Bush Camp offers a location like few camps in Africa. The fusion of exciting and fantastic game viewing with the peace and tranquillity of the area offers a unique safari experience. The Chitake River rises in the Zambezi escarpment and meanders its way through these magnificent hills down to the flat valley below, flowing into the Ruckomechi River and then finally into the Zambezi itself. Kavinga Bush Camp is situated on the renowned Chitake spring providing an abundance of wildlife. Kavinga Bush Camp is a traditional mobile tented camp with walk-in safari tents and hot showers. Meals are simple yet delicious and traditional dishes are served outdoors under the magnificent African sky. The area is renowned for offering incredible game viewing and all wildlife activities are accompanied by expert guides.

Kavinga River Camp


A safari at Kavinga River Camp promises to be a full and exciting one; with its magnificent location on the Zambezi River guests can enjoy early morning tea or coffee and a light breakfast before enjoying one of the camps many activities on offer. Activities include guided game drives, bush walks, birding, fishing or canoeing along the shoreline. A hearty lunch will be ready back at the camp after which guests can enjoy a lazy afternoon and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the camp. Mid- afternoon tea, coffee and biscuits can be enjoyed before embarking on another activity. Kavinga offers a traditional bush camp experience in walk-in tents and bucket showers. Kavinga River Camp offers superb guiding and incredible wildlife viewing opportunities.

Ruckomechi Camp


Ruckomechi Camp is a luxury bush camp offering an exclusive location combined with incredible game viewing and exciting wildlife activities accompanied by expert guides. The tents at Ruckomechi are spacious and offer en-suite facilities as well as outdoor showers. A highlight is the outdoor ' baths with views'. Facilities in the camp include a central dining area, bar, library and lounge areas linked to the rest of the camp by elevated walkways offering a light footprint.
