Nkwali Camp Highlights
Nkwali Camp offers a remote and private location overlooking the South Luangwa National Park. Nkwali is known to offer incredible game viewing and the area is characterized by ebony woodland and open grasslands. Guests can expect to see leopard, lion and occasionally wild dog. The area is particularly good for elephants and Thornicroft giraffe are frequently seen from the camp as animals come to the nearby waterhole to drink. The guiding at Nkwali Camp is superb and experienced and professional guides accompany guests on all wildlife activities including walking safaris, day game drives and night game drives as well as boating in the emerald season. Nkwali Camp is open all year round and both the dry season as well as the emerald season offer unique experiences.
Nkwali Camp Description
Nkwali Camp offers 6 rooms, one being a family room catering for a maximum of 14 guests. The chalets are cool and airy and offer magnificent views of the river. The chalets are made of bamboo, stone and thatch and blend in with the natural environment. The chalets offer en-suite bathrooms with double basins and open air showers during the dry season. Nkwali Camp offers a bar area on the banks of the Luangwa River, built around a huge ebony tree providing breathtaking river views. Guests can enjoy romantic dinners under the stars on the open deck. Meals are either served in the thatched dining room by the lagoon or enjoyed under the trees by the river or served in the bush.
Nkwali Camp Game Viewing
The South Luangwa National Park is one of the finest wildlife reserves in Zambia. The South Luangwa National Park lives up to its promise and provides a wild and exclusive safari experience. The Luangwa Valley is enormous and remote and home to a remarkable array of animals. The South Luangwa National Park consists of 9050 square km with the river being the focus of the wildlife viewing. The park is characterized by lagoons, woodlands, ebony groves, grassland and thickets playing host to an abundance of wildlife. The birdlife in the South Luangwa National Park is fantastic with approximately 450 species. The Luangwa River remains one of the last untouched major river systems in the world. Boating safaris are superb and offered during the high water months. Nkwali Camp is open all year round and each season offers a different experience altogether. The South Luangwa National Park is famous for offering some of the best walking safaris in Zambia and all camps offer guided bush walks and the guiding is fantastic. The Luangwa is famous for offering good leopard viewing although not guaranteed. The Luangwa is home to two endemic species, the Thornicroft giraffe and the Cookson's wildebeest. Activities include game drives, night drives, walking safaris and boating in the Emerald Season.
