Chindeni camp is situated in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia and offers a superb location alongside a permanent lagoon with the picturesque Nchendeni Hills in the background. Chindeni Camp is only a short yet interesting walk away from its neighbouring camps Chamilandu and Bilimungwe. Chindeni offers the perfect location for guests wanting to do game viewing from the comfort of the camp without too much effort. The fertile and wide lagoon extends from just beneath the private balconies of the tented chalets and promise incredible views and superb wildlife viewing. The area is host to ancient ebony trees providing much needed shade for the bar and dining area. The dining area provides magnificent sunsets and incredible stargazing at night.
Chindeni Description
Chindeni offers a remote location in the South Luangwa National Park combined with fantastic wildlife viewing and luxurious accommodation. Chindeni offers four en-suite tented chalets situated on raised wooden platforms protected by a shady ebony grove. Each chalet at Chindeni offers its own private veranda. Chindeni caters for a maximum of 6 guests or 8 guests if the entire camp is booked for a private group. Chindeni is small and personal and offers guests a superb safari experience. Each tent offers 2 queen-sized beds, hot and cold running water, shower, toilet and double vanities. Guests can enjoy an early morning walk from Chindeni to Chamilandu or Bilimungwe. An early morning walk between the camps will provide an ideal opportunity to experience two of the trails camps in one stay.
Chindeni Game Viewing and Activities
The South Luangwa National Park has been rated by many as one of the finest wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The South Luangwa National Park offers incredible birdlife and the diverse vegetation offers the ideal habitat. The Luangwa River is the most integral river system in Africa and is the life blood of the South Luangwa National Park consisting of 9050km². A big attraction to the park is the famous 'walking safari' and is the best way to explore this magnificent area. The park is home to 60 different animal species and over 400 bird species. Large herds of elephant can frequently be seen on the plains and buffalos and hippos are spread throughout the valley. Zebra can also be seen in abundance as well as the Thornicroft's Giraffe, unique to Luangwa Valley. South Luangwa National Park is home to 14 different antelope species, including the elusive bushbuck, kudu, eland and the impala, duiker, reedbuck, roan, sable, hartebeest, grysbok, klipspringer and Oribi. The park has one of the densest populations of leopard in Southern Africa as well as an active predator population and lions are abundant in the Luangwa.
