Bilimungwe is a trails camp offering superb walking safaris situated along the scenic banks of the Luangwa River in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. Bilimungwe offers peace and tranquility as well as a permanent water hole in front of the camp attracting an abundance of wildlife and providing exciting wildlife viewing opportunities. The South Luangwa National Park offers magnificent views and stunning sunsets. The highlight at Bilimungwe is the guided walking safaris accompanied by expert guides. Bilimungwe offers only 4 chalets hence ensuring a private and personal safari experience. Guided game walks are offered in the early morning as well as at sunset and guests can also enjoy day game drives as well as night game drives accompanied by experienced and professional guides.
Bilimungwe Description
Bilimungwe Camp offers a remote location in the wild and untouched South Luangwa National Park. The chalets at Bilimungwe are situated on the edge of the bush and offers fantastic wildlife. Bilimungwe offers only four comfortable reed and thatch chalets providing en-suite showers, toilet and double vanities. The thatched dining area provides the ideal setting in which to enjoy watching the wildlife that comes to the waterhole to drink. The dining area and bar are situated on raised decks providing beautiful views. The large open yet shaded-sided deck is protected by a giant mahogany tree and offers superb game viewing opportunities during the day as well as at night with spotlights.
Bilimungwe Game Viewing and Activities
The South Luangwa National Park has been rated by many as one of the finest wildlife sanctuaries in the world offering large concentrations of game. It is here in the South Luangwa National Park where the African Walking Safari originated in the spectacular sanctuary of the Luangwa Valley. A big attraction to the park is the famous 'walking safari' and is the best way to explore this magnificent area. The park is home to 60 different animal species and over 400 bird species. Large herds of elephant can frequently be seen on the plains. Buffalos and hippos are abundant and spread throughout the valley. Zebra can also be seen in abundance as well as the Thornicroft's Giraffe, unique to Luangwa Valley and plentiful in the park. South Luangwa National Park is home to 14 different antelope species, including the elusive bushbuck, kudu, eland and the impala, duiker, reedbuck, roan, sable, hartebeest, grysbok, klipspringer and Oribi. The South Luangwa National Park has one of the densest populations of leopard in Southern Africa. The park has an active predator population and lions are abundant in the Luangwa.
