Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is located in Zambia and also called 'The Smoke That Thunders' by some of the locals; referring to the spray and the roar as the water of Victoria Falls drops over 300 feet down into the mighty Zambezi River. The park is home to the majestic and spectacular Victoria Falls. Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park is situated in the southern most edge of Zambia with Zimbabwe on its border. Dr David Livingstone discovered Victoria Falls in 1855 and today it is one of the most fascinating natural wonders of the world. Victoria Falls has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and a must-see for visitors traveling to Zambia. Mosi- Oa-Tunya National Park is one of the smaller parks in Zambia; however it is a wildlife sanctuary and well worth a visit if not for the wildlife then definitely for the mighty and mysterious Victoria Falls.
Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park Game Viewing and Activites
Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park offers a variety of wildlife including herds of elephant and buffalo as well as giraffe, hippo, crocodile, bushbuck, zebra, and impala. Smaller species such as warthog, vervet monkey, baboon, klipspringer and Cape clawless otter can be seen. Bird species include the Taita Falcon, Verreauxs' Eagle and Peregrine Falcon, as well as White-backed Night Heron, African Skimmer, Half-collard Kingfisher and African Finfoot and the low rocky islands are ideal for Rock Pratincoles. Toka Leya
