Chongwe River Camp is situated on the boundary of the Lower Zambezi National Park, a four thousand square kilometer pristine wildlife sanctuary, teeming with game and one of Africa's most scenic wilderness areas. The Lower Zambezi National Park has become one of Southern Africa's premier destinations and offers a peaceful game viewing experience. Guests can enjoy wildlife activities including game drives, walking, boating and fishing accompanied by expert guides.


Chongwe River Camp Description


Chongwe River Camp offers luxurious and spacious chalets with cool thatch roofs and open air bathrooms situated underneath the trees surrounded by beautiful lawns and magnificent views of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers. Each tent caters for two people, in twin or double beds. The bathrooms are simply magical; guests can shower under the stars or in the early morning sunshine. Meals at Chongwe River Camp are a feast and a talented chef will cater for all needs. Guests can enjoy meals at the outdoor dining table.


Chongwe River Camp Game Viewing


The Lower Zambezi National Park is one of Zambia's premier wildlife areas with abundant bird and animal life. Located on the banks of the beautiful, clear Zambezi River and bordered on the northern side by the Muchinga escarpment, the park has some exceptionally picturesque scenery. The Zimbabwean World Heritage Site, Mana Pools Reserve, is situated on the opposite bank forming a natural transfrontier park and creating a large sanctuary for wildlife. Abundant game occurs in the valley floor and along the river offering fantastic land and water-based game viewing opportunities. The park is host to large herds of elephant and healthy populations of lion, leopard, side striped jackal, hyena, hippo, buffalo, zebra, waterbuck, and many other antelope. Less common are the African wild dog and aardvark. The Lower Zambezi National Park is an important bird area. Over 300 species of birds can be found in the area. The African fish eagle, Zambia's national bird is commonly seen and heard. Huge flocks of red winged pratincole may be seen.
