Lunga River Lodge offers a magnificent setting on the west bank of the breathtaking Lunga River in the north-eastern region of the Kafue National Park in Zambia. Lunga River offers a remote location in a quiet corner of the Kafue National Park where the Lunga River forms the centre of attraction as far as wildlife activities are concerned. The area around Lunga River Lodge offers thrilling mammal viewing and prolific birding. This river is unique and offers a very different atmosphere to many other major river systems within Zambia and south-central Africa. The views at Lunga River Lodge are simply magnificent and guests are assured of a private and personal safari experience with only six rooms available. The guiding at Lunga River Lodge is superb and passionate guides will accompany guests on all wildlife activities giving them the opportunity to explore the area and the Kafue National Park. Activities include game drives, bush walks as well as boating.


Lunga River Lodge Description


Lunga River Lodge offers a unique location on the banks of the Lunga River; a completely different river experience compared to other rivers in Zambia. Lunga River Lodge consists of only six spacious thatched rooms with en-suite showers and bathrooms as well as private viewing decks that provide magnificent views. The main area at Lunga River Lodge offers a bar with a sundeck suspended over the river, a 'termite mound-top' dining area, reading room and boma-enclosed with a swimming pool.


Lunga River Lodge Game Viewing and Activities


The Kafue National Park offers the largest mammal species diversity in Zambia due to its fascinating habitat mix and the Park is home to 55 large mammal species including 20 ungulate and 6 cat species. The Lunga area also offers fantastic mammal viewing, most prominent the hippopotamus that occur in high densities along the river. Puku and impala are common whilst buffalo, elephant, bushbuck, sable, Defassa waterbuck, Lichtenstein's hartebeest and oribi are frequently seen. Tree hyrax is a special mammal that can be found right in camp. Predatory species are also found in abundance in the Kafue National Park and include side-striped jackal, wild dog, cheetah, lion and sometimes leopard. Night drives are a highlight and often produce large-spotted genet and white-tailed mongoose. Primates include lesser bushbaby, yellow baboon, vervet monkey and occasionally blue monkey.
