Leopard Lodge Highlights

Leopard Lodge is a small and intimate safari lodge offering a remote location on the banks of the Kafue River in the Kafue National Park in Zambia. Guests can enjoy personalized service in this family-run lodge with delicious meals and fantastic game viewing opportunities. The fishing here is superb and the beautiful Kafue River offers bream, barbel and fresh water pike. The lodge has fishing tackle, rods, boats and bait available; night game drives are another highlight at Leopard Lodge. Other activities include boat cruises, bird watching and game viewing on foot or by vehicle. A minimum stay of 3 nights is recommended to get a true feel for the lodge and enjoy the magnificent area.

Leopard Lodge Description

Leopard Lodge offers 5 thatched chalets and camping can be arranged for guests who wish to camp. Most of the thatched brick-built chalets cater for 2 people and offer en-suite facilities, extra beds can be placed on the enclosed veranda. One chalet has 2 rooms, sharing a bathroom. Mosquito nets are provided for all beds and all bedding is pure cotton. The lodge also offers a restaurant and bar.

Leopard Lodge Game Viewing

Kafue National Park is 22 400 square kilometers in size and offers exceptional opportunities to view wildlife. Leopard Lodge is situated in a game management area surrounded by the Kafue National Park. To the extreme north of the Kafue lie the Busanga Plains, one of Zambia's most prominent wetland resources and one of the few areas in the world that remain untouched by development and human activity. The Kafue River plays host to a large variety of bird and plant life and the rolling grass plains and forests offer the ideal habitat. Large herds of antelope roam the plains including red lechwe, puku, sable and roan antelopes, waterbuck, tsessebe, hartebeest, as well as oribi and duiker. Large prides of lion, leopards and cheetah are the prime predators. Over 400 species of birds have been recorded throughout the park. The Kafue and Lunga Rivers offer superb fishing opportunities, especially bream, barbel and fresh water pike. The waters of the Kafue River are home to large numbers of hippopotamus and crocodile. The best game viewing is during the dry season from April to October; however the beauty of the park is at its best after the rains during the first half of the year. Many of the parks internal roads are inaccessible between November and April.
