Kafue National Park Highlights


Kafue National Park is the oldest and largest National Park in Zambia and the second largest National Park in the world. Kafue National Park covers an area of approximately 22 400 square kilometers of unspoiled wilderness teeming with wildlife. Kafue National Park if renowned for offering fantastic wildlife viewing as well as incredible bird-life; over 400 bird species have been recorded in the park. Despite the Park's proximity to both Lusaka and the Copper belt, it has remained underdeveloped until recent years. The Kafue National Park is still untouched, wild and diverse and offers visitors one of the best safari experiences in Zambia. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities accompanied by expert guides including game drives, bird watching and fishing.

Kafue National Park Game Viewing


Kafue National Park in Zambia offers incredible birdlife and offers many species that do not occur elsewhere in Southern Africa. The Kafue National Park and the Busanga Plains in particular is characterized by diverse habitats with floodplains, miombo woodland and open grassy areas known as dambos creating a paradise for wildlife and birdlife. The Chaplin's Barbet is endemic to Zambia and occurs in the Kafue basin; however the excitement is in the diversity and abundance of finding over 400 recorded species as well as large concentrations of Wattled Crane. Mammals in the Kafue National Park are equally diverse, with frequent sightings of lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, hippo as well as an abundance of plains game including zebra and wildebeest. A number of other species not that frequently seen include the puku antelope, Defassa waterbuck, Lichtenstein's hartebeest, oribi and roan antelope. The Kafue National Park in Zambia is seasonal, and traditionally only accessible from May to October, during the dry season.

Busanga Bush Camp


Busanga Bush Camp is situated in the heart of the Busanga Plains in Kafue National Park with magnificent views of herds of puku and lechwe grazing in front of the camp. Hippo Lodge


Hippo Lodge offers a traditional bush experience with no electricity in a remote corner of the Kafue National Park in Zambia. Kapinga Camp


Kapinga Camp is a small luxury tented camp located in the beautiful Busanga Plains in Kafue National Park in Zambia. Kapinga promises guests a personalized safari experience and caters for a maximum of only 8 guests in 4 spacious and luxurious safari tents. The main area of Kapinga Camp consists of a lounge, dining area, camp fire and small pool situated underneath a shady tree. Lufupa Tented Camp

Lunga River Lodge

Shumba Camp


Shumba Camp offers the ideal location in the remote Kafue National Park in Zambia to benefit from the plains game and predator concentrations of the Busanga Plains; guests will be able to experience close encounters with wildlife, as the camp is within close proximity to permanent water and having easy access to a mix of seasonal and permanent floodplains unique to Kafue National Park. Shumba Camp is known to offer fantastic lion viewing in the area - prides of lion sometimes up to 20 strong can be seen. Wildlife viewing can be enjoyed from the comfort of your tent for most of the day or from the main viewing deck at the camp and species including puku, lechwe and hippo can be seen for much of the day. Shumba Camp consists of six spacious and luxurious safari tents built on raised platforms offering magnificent views. The rooms offer en-suite facilities with both indoor and outdoor showers. The dining and bar area is elevated and dinner is served either here or in the cosy boma area. Many meals are prepared and cooked on the fire in front of the guests enhancing the safari experience.
