Zambia Game Viewing and Activites
The game parks in Zambia are a nature-lover's paradise. Visitors can enjoy fantastic bird watching as well as incredible game viewing opportunities. The rivers in Zambia play host to an abundance of wildlife and with its rich vegetation it provides high concentrations of wildlife. Guests can expect to see massive herds of elephant and buffalo as well as dominant antelope species such as impala and puku. Other antelope include common waterbuck, bushbuck, eland, kudu, grysbok, oribi, reedbuck, Lichtenstein's hartebeest, sable and roan. Species such as Thornicroft's giraffe and Cookson's wildebeest occur nowhere else in the world but here. The major predators are lion, leopard, spotted hyena and wild dog. Activities at the camps and lodges vary and may include game drives, night drives, guided walking safaris, canoeing, river cruises as well as specialist birding and walking safaris. The sunsets and scenery in Zambia are simply magnificent and the stargazing at night incredible.
How to Get there
SUNSAFARIS can arrange scheduled flights for visitors from all major airports into Zambia. Many airlines fly in and out of Lusaka International Airport, including Zambezi Airways, British Airways, South African Airways, Air France, Air Botswana, Air Zimbabwe and more. Guests can also fly into Livingstone airport. Once you arrive in the country SUNSAFARIS will arrange a road and/or air transfer for you to your choice of accommodation. Guests can also opt to charter into some of the remote camps in Zambia or take a helicopter transfer.
Seasons and Climate
Zambia has 3 definite seasons being the rainy season which starts in November and last until April when it is warm, humid and wet; this season is also known as the Emerald Season. May is the end of the rainy season and the start of winter or the dry season and continues until August when the days are cool and dry. September and October are hot and dry with October being the hottest month of the year. Average temperatures in summer range from 25°C to 35°C and in winter from 6°C to 24°C.
Kafue National Park
The Kafue National Park is situated in a remote and untouched corner of Zambia and offers visitors an incredible safari experience. The Kafue National Park is known for its enormous herds of red lechwe, puku and roan antelope, the rare sitatunga antelope as well as an abundance of predators especially lion and leopard. The Kafue River in the Kafue National Park assists in the great diversity of wildlife and birdlife in the region and the landscape consists of rolling grass plains and forests. The majority of the park is wooded offering the ideal habitat for bird-life however it opens up at certain areas with wide green clearings known as 'dambos', where an abundance of antelope species can be found; this in return offer good hunting opportunities and is also where predators such as leopard and lion can be found. The scenic Busanga Plains in the north is a highlight and a significant wetland resource in Zambia; one of the few still untouched by human development.

Liuwa Plain National Park
Liuwa Plain National Park offers visitors a private and personal safari experience; the park is visited by few people and offers the ideal conditions for guests looking for an active and traditional safari experience in Africa. The park is remote and untouched and exploring the plains on a guided walking safari or game drive will be an experience unique to Liuwa. Highlights in Liuwa Plain National Park include fantastic bird-life, magical sunsets and clear blue skies; the stargazing is phenomenal and the magnificent landscapes offer unique photographic opportunities. Livingstone
Known by the locals as the "Smoke that Thunders" the spectacular Victoria Falls can be viewed from both Zambia as well as Zimbabwe. The town of Livingstone offers a unique and magnificent location along the famous Zambezi River in Zambia situated close to the Victoria Falls; one of the most fascinating natural wonders in the world. Lower Zambezi National Park
The Lower Zambezi National Park offers a superb location in Zambia and offers 120kms of river frontage. The park is characterized by its unique features; the rugged escarpment to the north, the river itself, a variety of islands, lagoons and floodplains playing host to an enormous amount of wildlife. The Lower Zambezi National Park is home to about 50 mammal species and 400 bird species as well as a wide variety of beautiful trees and flowers. Mosi Oa Tunya National Park
Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and the Victoria Falls are some of the most visited tourist areas in Zambia. The park is small and home to the famous Victoria Falls as well as a variety of wildlife and bird species. Visitors can expect to see herds of elephant and buffalo as well as giraffe, hippo, crocodile, bushbuck, zebra, and impala. Smaller species such as warthog, vervet monkey, baboon, klipspringer and Cape clawless otter can be seen. North Luangwa National Park
The North Luangwa National Park in Zambia has been ranked by many visitors as one of the best wildlife parks in Africa due to the successful conservation efforts of famous researchers. North Luangwa National Park is not open to the public and unless guests have been booked into one of the seasonal camps, they will not be allowed into the park. North Luangwa National Park is famous for its remote and incredible walking safaris. Activities at the camps vary but most include limited game drives and walking safaris accompanied by expert guides. This remote and unspoiled corner of Zambia is famous for its large herds of buffalo; has a healthy predator population and offers guests a superb safari experience. South Luangwa National Park
The countryside in this part of Zambia, the Luangwa Valley is truly spectacular, the vegetation is thick and a lush riverine forest occurs that is green all year round; bordering the rivers western banks are the North and South Luangwa National Parks separated by the 30km Munyamadzi corridor. The remote bush camps in South Luangwa National Park operate from May through October. They close during the green season, November to March, also called the "Emerald Season" when access into the park is practically impossible. There are only a few permanent lodges operating in South Luangwa National Park. They remain open all year, catering mainly to birdwatchers during the green season. The South Luangwa National Park is remote and private and renowned for offering an abundance of wildlife as well as some of the best walking safaris in Zambia.
