Rufiji River Camp Highlights

Rufiji River Camp offers a magnificent location on the banks of the Rufiji River in the Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania and promises a peaceful and tranquil setting. The camp offers spectacular views and guests can enjoy game watching from the viewing decks at the camp or the comfort of their veranda overlooking the river which is home to an abundance of wildlife. Rufiji River Camp Description

Rufiji River Camp offers 20 tents providing magnificent views over the river and breathtaking sunsets. Each tent has a private shaded veranda ideal for reading, writing or just relaxing and watching the game wander by. Facilities in the tents include comfortable beds, walled en-suite facilities and mosquito nets. The main area of the lodge consists of a dining, bar and lounge area overlooking the Rufiji River. Meals are delicious and of international standard. The camp also offers a library. Electricity and hot water are powered by solar panels; filtered water is available throughout camp including the tents. A covered swimming pool is situated in the camp, between reception and mess area.

Rufiji River Camp Game Viewing

Selous Game Reserve is the largest game reserve in Africa and the second largest in the world; one of Africa's true hidden gems and one of the wildest conservation areas consisting of an incredible 55,000 sq kilometres containing over 800,000 mammals, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalos, zebras, impalas, gnus, hartebeests, waterbucks, giraffes, kudus, warthogs, grysbok, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, bush babies, baboons, Vervet monkeys and mongooses as well as an abundance of hippopotamuses and crocodiles. The reserve offers incredible birdlife with about 440 bird species. The Rufiji River is the largest river in East Africa and offers an abundance of wildlife and is home to over 1,000,000 large animals and over half of Tanzania's elephant population. One of the main attractions in the Selous Game Reserve is the river itself offering one of the largest crocodile and hippo populations in Africa
