Chada Katavi Camp is situated in the midst of Katavi National Park, in western Tanzania; rated by many visitors as one of the best wildlife destinations in Africa. A true "off the beaten track" safari experience. Chada Katavi offers a unique position with magnificent views from its elevated vantage point. Accommodation is elegant and offers only 6 spacious tents with en-suite facilities ensuring a personal safari experience. This part of Katavi National Park is remote and offers superb game viewing opportunities; the valleys and plains around the camp are teeming with wildlife and offers large concentrations of hippo and crocodile, as well as the last great herds of buffalo in East Africa. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities including game drives and guided bush walks or simply enjoy the spectacular views from the privacy of your tent.
Chada Katavi offers a secluded spot hidden away underneath the trees on the rim of the Chada plain; guests can enjoy 6 spacious walk-in safari tents, each with 2 twin beds or a double bed as well as crisp white Egyptian cottons and lanterns at night offering a touch of romance. Each tent offers en-suite bathroom facilities and hot bucket showers. A wash basin with pitchers of hot and cold water is set at the front of each tent. Catering for only 12 guests at a time, Chada Katavi promises a personalized safari experience in a remote part of Katavi National Park. Meals at the camp are delicious and hearty breakfasts and lunches are enjoyed under the trees; dinners are elegant and gourmet meals are served with fine wines.
Katavi National Park is one of Africa's last true wilderness areas. The park offers spectacular scenery as well as an abundance of wildlife and is ideal for visitors looking for a wild and traditional safari experience. Katavi is situated in western Tanzania in the Rukwa Rift valley to wards Lake Tanganyika and offers a remote location and off the beaten track experience. Chada Katavi is exclusive and overlooks the Chada floodplains; endless open grassland and miombo woodlands are penetrated by two major rivers, whose seasonal fluctuations form huge floodplains. The best time to visit the camp is during the dry season (May to October) you will see large numbers of elephant, herds of buffalo, hippo, zebra, giraffe, and plenty of lions. It's a fantastic time for game viewing as animals gather in large numbers at the banks of the rivers. Katavi offers fantastic birding with over 400 bird species recorded including the Angolan pitta, black-faced barbet and blue swallow.
