The Desert Homestead is situated approximately 32km southeast of Sesriem. The beautiful valley is protected by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft mountains offering spectacular views. The lodge offers a unique location combined with elegant accommodation in individual thatch desert chalets with private verandas and friendly staff.
The Desert Homestead Description
The Desert Homestead offers 20 luxurious thatched, en-suite chalets, all beautifully decorated in crisp white linens and dark wood furniture. Each chalet has its own verandah under a canopy with Northern views extending to the Rotterkaum Mountains. The chalets offer single or double beds and en-suite bathrooms with showers and toilets. The lights and fans in the guest accommodation are solar powered during the day. All our guest amenities (soaps, shampoo, body lotion etc.) are environmentally friendly. The living areas of the Main Lodge are all open plan; a sheltered verandah is ideal for meals or a romantic candle-lit dinner on windy evenings. The lodge also has a cosy lounge with comfortable leather sofas. Satellite TV is available in a separate room and internet facilities for guests are available in the Curio shop. The bar is attended by efficient and friendly staff. The Desert Homestead offers delicious, creative farm style dishes with fresh vegetables from the desert gardens and there is a swimming pool.
The Desert Homestead Activities and Game Viewing
A variety of activities are available at The Desert Homestead including horse-riding, sunrise and sunset rides are available and includes either a sunrise breakfast or a magical desert sunset picnic with snacks and drinks. Sundowner drives in the evenings are also available which includes a leisurely nature drive, slowly winding up a mountain including drinks and snacks. Guided Sossusvlei excursions, guided Naukluft excursions and tours to the Neuras Wine Estate are also available. Scenic flights, hot-air ballooning and quad biking can also be arranged as part of the activities.
