Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp is located in one of the most extraordinary places in the Namib Desert, adjacent to the legendary and magnificent Sossusvlei Dunes. Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp is situated on the private Kulala Wilderness Reserve just outside the Namib Naukluft Park and offers privacy and exclusivity; the camp offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Naukluft Mountains and exhilarating desert activities.
Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp Description
Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp offers nine luxurious units, each with a plunge pool on a raised wooden deck. The bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms all have beautiful views of the surrounding plains and dunes in the distance. The main area of Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp is under thatch with an outdoor deck where guests enjoy sundowners or dinner under the stars, breakfasts are occasionally served under camel thorn trees amongst the dunes. Guests are also offered the opportunity to view the clear African night skies through a powerful telescope from the stargazing platform. Meals at Sossusvlei Wilderness are delicious and all appetites are catered for.
Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp Activities and Game Viewing
Activities at Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp include excursions to Sossusvlei Dunes, (including Brunch at Sossusvlei), Hot Air balloons at Sesriem (on request, at additional cost), Guided nature drives on the property, guided nature walks on request as well as a visit the Namib-Naukluft Park can be arranged. Sossusvlei is situated within the Namib Desert which itself is part of the Namib Naukluft National Park that stretches 400km south of Walvis Bay and is sandwiched between the west coast and the escarpment that runs parallel more than 100km inland. Its huge red dunes and flat valley floors make up the archetypical view of the Namib that is world famous. Desert-adapted wildlife such as ostrich, springbok and gemsbok are sparsely distributed here. Larger predators include spotted hyaena and occasionally brown hyaena. Smaller creatures such as bat-eared fox, black-backed jackal, porcupine, Cape fox and aardwolf can be seen at night in the cool desert air, and one bird, the Dune Lark, has its entire global distribution limited to the area, so dependent is it on the area's characteristic sands.
