Sabora Plains Tented Camp, Serengeti

Introduction

Grumeti Reserves is located adjacent to the Western Corridor of the Serengeti, bordering the national park, and encompasses 400,000 acres of unrivalled wilderness. The area forms part of the famous migratory route, which is travelled by hundreds of thousands of animals every year.

Camp Description

Sabora Plains Tented Camp is beautifully decorated in grand campaign style representing a return to the golden ages of the 1920s and 30s.   The dining tent, observation deck and main living room are the centre of daily life for those times you want to relax and take in the view of the endless plains. The camp also has a heated plunge pool, Jacuzzi, tennis court and spa.  The Spa features two therapy rooms for treatments. Many treatments can also be conducted in guest tents.

The six lavish tents, swathed in gauze and silk, are air-conditioned and feature a bedroom and reading area.  All tents have their own bathroom with bath and outdoor shower.  For those quiet and personal moments each tent has its own viewing deck with a Swarovski spotting scope.

Game Viewing

Game drives and walks can be enjoyed with our professional guides amongst the most experienced in East Africa.

Activities

The Equestrian Centre is situated a few minutes walk from Sasakwa and is home to sixteen horses. The Centre includes a lunging arena, fenced paddock, and a walled 2.7 kilometre riding track, which can also be used for walking and jogging. More experienced riders can enjoy outrides onto the Serengeti plains. Tack is English style, and guests have the choice of either English or Western saddles.

There are the spa facilities available. A complimentary one hour spa treatment is included in your stay. Other activities activities include archery, lawn croquet, mountain biking, equestrian pursuits, and hot air ballooning.

Hot air balloon trips can be arranged (not included).

Camp Facts

Each tent features an electronic safe, overhead fan, hairdryer, direct dial telephone (US lines), and wireless internet access.

Laundry and valet services are available and included in the tariff due to the remote location of the camp, dry cleaning facilities are not available.

Sabora Plains Tented Camp is family friendly, and mature and responsible children are welcome.

How to get there

Twice daily scheduled flights are available from Arusha, and private charters can be arranged, all of which land at Sasakwa airstrip, located a few minutes from Sasakwa Lodge, and a comfortable drive through the Grumeti wilderness to Sabora.
