MARA REKERO KIDOGO CAMP
Masai Mara Kenya
Introduction
Rekero Kidogo Camp is situated in the Olare Orok Conservancy, which is approximately 20 000 acres and bordering the Masai Mara Reserve. It is the ideal base for walks in and around the nearby Ntiakitiak.
Camp Description
The camp comprises of 5 twins or double, 1 triple tent, en suite with flush toilets and safari showers. Each tent has a private veranda with hot and cold water. There is a dining tent, although most meals are enjoyed outdoors. The camp chef produces appetising farmhouse meals which utilise skilful blends of flavours and cuisine from both East and West.
Game Viewing
Game viewing at Rekero Kidogo Camp is either conducted in the private Olare Orok Conservancy or within the Masai Mara National Park. The conservancy shares an open savannah plain with the Masai Mara and wildlife moves freely through the area. This allows guests to enjoy either complete privacy during the game drive or drive into the Masai Mara to find game. Being in the conservancy also allows the camp to offer guest a variety of activities, including sundowners on the nearby hill and escorted walks. Full day game drives into the Masai Mara allow guests to go deep into the reserve to the Mara and Talek Rivers. These rivers are particularly impressive during the annual wildebeest migration which crosses these rivers from July to September. Olare Orak Conservancy also hosts huge quantities of wildebeest and zebra during the migration. Cats are often resident in the conservancy at this time.
The Masai Mara is one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa. It is part of the traditional Masai lands, and its edges are dotted with manyattas (Masai shepherd'
s villages). It is an integral part of the Serengeti ecosystem, divided in two by the vagaries of human geography. The wildlife is abundant throughout the year.Rekero Kidogo is ideally suited to view the big cats and annual wildebeest migration. Also in the reserve you will find large herds of buffalo and various antelope, in addition to the resident hippo, giraffe, elephant, cheetah and leopard.
