Lion Sands Private Game Reserve consists of three luxurious safari lodges located on the banks of the Sabie River in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. Family-owned and managed since 1932, the people of Lion Sands set out to deliver a professional and informative safari experience. From all three Lion Sands safari lodges, guests can expect to encounter lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino and a whole host of other spectacular wildlife! All the game drives are led by knowledgable game rangers in open 4 x 4 landrovers, and off road driving is allowed for special and Big Five sightings.

Located on the banks of the Sabie River and surrounded by 800-year old trees, Lion Sands River Lodge is is relaxing African hospitality at its best. The Lodge is situated in the southern portion of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, an area well known for its spectacular predator viewing. Guests staying at Lion Sands River Lodge have exclusive access to the Sabie River.

Built on the banks of the Sabie River with magnificent views of the river, Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is heaven on earth. Each suite at this award-winning lodge is operated as a private villa with its own private plunge pool. Lion Sands Ivory Lodge offers guests a private retreat in an exclusive area teeming with wildlife.

Lion Sands 1933 Safari Lodge represents a secluded environment where comfort and relaxation are the order of the day. Lion Sands 1933 consists of four spacious suites, each with their own private view of the Sabie River. It is the only exclusive-use safari lodge in the Sabi Sand area, and is family owned since 1933.

Guests have three ways of getting to Lion Sands.
Scheduled flights
They can catch a scheduled flight from Johannesburg or Cape Town to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport in Nelspruit. From there Sun Safaris will arrange a private road transfer to the reserve, which takes two hours.
Self drive
Guests can also self drive from Johannesburg to Lion Sands, and the drive takes approximately six hours on good, safe roads.
Light air transfer
Alternatively guests can catch a light air transfer from Johannesburg directly to the Skukuza airstrip.
