PLANNING AND CHOOSING YOUR OWN SAFARI
The best way to organise your own safari is to contact us! We can talk you through the various options, make suggestions and send you some itinerary's based on your interests and budget.
However, you should consider the below questions before contacting us.
How much time do I have available for my safari?
The average safari lasts from 7 to 21 days, with add-on safaris to a trip to South Africa lasting on average 3 to 4 days. For the Irish and UK tourist, flights to southern Africa are normally overnight, however American tourists need to consider the additional travel time in flying to southern Africa and hence the jet lag. Therefore, allow yourself enough time to unwind and enjoy your safari. We suggest 7 days minimum for a flying safari between camps, 3 to 4 days for an add-on safari to the Kruger National Park and 14 to 21 days for a comprehensive cross-country safari.
What is my budget?
Your budget will determine the type of safari and accommodation you can participate in. The more expensive safaris/lodges, (apart from the more obvious increased luxury, personalised service and excellent food), offer a more private safari experience, combined with increased quality guiding. The most expensive lodges are normally always located in private concession areas where access is limited to guests staying at that lodge/s. The increased privacy creates a wonderful safari experience. However, a fantastic wilderness experience can also be experienced at less expensive lodges. Safaris at lodges in the Private Reserves of the Kruger National Park generally start at 125 Euro per night. Remember that the price is inclusive of all meals, accommodation, game drives, bush walks, and in some camps local alcoholic drinks and laundry services.
