OFFBEAT MARA
Masai Mara Game Reserve
Kenya

This small and exclusive tented camp is a seasonal camp located on the Olare Orok River on Koyiaki Group Ranch. It is tucked away in a prime wildlife area far from other lodges and camps. They aim to provide guests with great game viewing, away from the masses. Offbeat Mara works closely with the local Masai community, with many working as camp staff and guides.

Camp Description

The Offbeat Mara Camp sleeps 12 guests in 6 large luxury tents - 3 doubles and 3 twins. (an extra bed can be added to each tent for small children). Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with hot bucket showers, wash basins and flush WCs. The spacious tents are all furnished with large, hand made cedar beds, 24 hour solar lighting and the finest linen.

Informal dining is hosted in the mess tent or around the campfire. Delicious English breakfasts, light lunches and four course dinners are served each evening. Guests can relax in the bar and mess tent, furnished with comfortable sofas, a writing desk and library with wildlife guide books.

Game Viewing

Unfenced, the Mara borders the Ngama Hills in the east and the Olooloo or Siria Escarpment in the west. Gazelle, wildebeest and zebra graze in large numbers and where prey is found so are predators. Lion, cheetah, elephant, kongoni, topi, Thompson' s gazelle, waterbuck, hyena and the primates can also be found roaming the Masai Mara. The Great Migration takes place between Kenya' s Masai Mara and Tanzania' s Serengeti National Park, and is the greatest wildlife spectacle on the plant. Thousands of wildebeest and zebra migrate between the Serengeti and Masai Mara, constantly searching for fresh grazing. The massive herds are closely followed by predators making the most of every opportunity to catch their next meal.
