Nestled in the heart of the 75 000 ha Madikwe Game Reserve and located on the banks of the Marico River, Morukuru Lodge is an intimate bush villa suited to patrons, small groups of friends and families looking for an exclusive-use bush retreat that combines stylish dcor with luxury and warm African hospitality.

Camp Description

The villas living area provides an elegant indoor lounge area with a fireplace for cosy African evenings. The central outdoor area has a wooden deck that spans the perimeter of the villa, offering guests the opportunity to take in the tranquility of the African bush. Guests can recline on loungers around the swimming pool, whilst sipping on cocktails. At night guests can gather around the open log fire in the outdoor boma area to enjoy the flavours, sounds, and sights of Africa by night.

The luxury private villa has 3 spacious uniquely themed bedrooms each with their own private deck, air-conditioners and fans. Each bedroom has a full bathroom en-suite with the option of indulging in a foam bath or shower indoors or out.

Adjacent to the 3 fully-equipped bedrooms is a family room with a large sofa which doubles up to provide 2 super-size singles beds should additional accommodation be required. The family room enhances the home away from home experience with recreational and office facilities including a TV and DVD facility, as well as Internet and satellite access.

A team of dedicated staff are available for your exclusive use and to attend to you, which includes your personal manager, ranger, chef, butler, tracker, nanny and housekeeping staff.

The Morukuru experience includes world class cuisine prepared by your personal chef who will cater to your individual tastes.

Guests have the wonderful option of dining indoors at the delightful 10 seater formal dining table, or dine al fresco on the pool deck, in the shaded garden area or in the bush around the open fire set in the boma.

All meals will be accompanied by a selection of house wines or, alternatively, make your personal choice of wine to accompany your meal from the superior wine selection in the wine cellar.

Game Viewing

The Madikwe Game Reserve is home to a tremendous diversity of fauna and flora. It is home to lion, leopard, over 400 elephant, black and white rhino, buffalo, hippo, brown and spotted hyena, giraffe, wild dog, and cheetah. In addition, the expansive grass plains boast gemsbok, springbok, and over 340 species of birds. The camp is a superb walking and open vehicle safari destination where guests are accompanied by well-trained and informative rangers who are able to interpret the many encounters whilst on safari.

At Morukuru Lodge, guests will have their own private game viewing vehicle and game ranger which will offer the flexibility of scheduling game drives at specified times that suite the individual. The game walks through the Madikwe Game Reserve allow guests to experience the African bushveld on foot.
