MFUWE LODGE South Luangwa Zambia
Introduction
Mfuwe Lodge provides guests with a unique glimpse of Africa as it once was, unspoiled, untouched and truly unforgettable as it overlooks the lagoon in Zambias South Luangwa National Park. Ideally positioned Mfuwe Lodge is 3km from the main entrance to South Luangwa National Park and just a 45 minute transfer from Mfuwe Airport. The enchantment of the lodges setting is matched only by high concentrations of wildlife.
Camp Description
Mfuwe's new structures keeps the comfort and relaxation of guests in mind, while still capitalising on an African wilderness experience that is a blend of colours and textures, sounds, aromas and sights that are unequal anywhere else on the globe.
Each of the 18 thatched chalets has their own view which overlooks the lodge's two lagoons, which attract a profuse game activity during the day and night. As water levels drop, the animals - including hippo, elephant, buffalo, leopard and lion - make their way to the lagoons to drink.
Each chalet has around the clock electricity with a ceiling fan, refrigerator, mosquito nets and en-suite facilities which include a double vanity, separate toilets and a sunken bath with shower. Three sides of the chalets are enclosed with the fourth side being open to allow guests to take in the sights and smells to the African bush. The camp also offers a fully stocked bar with an outside patio and a divine, full sized swimming pool for relaxation during the midday hours.
Only the imagination limits the variety of settings that the meals are served in. Guests generally enjoy brunch in the bush followed by a early morning game drive and dinners are often served by candlelight under a beautiful African starlit sky. The lodge maintains its tranquil setting by not having telephones or radios in any of the rooms; however contact can be through arrangement.
Game Viewing
Game driving safaris are provided day and night by knowledgeable and experienced guides daily. While those in the group that are more adventurous at heart can try the walking safari to see animals on foot.
Mfuwe Lodge is amongst the few lodges that stay open during the Green season, during which time you can see the landscape changing into a lush green paradise that gives guests the opportunity to see the wondrous sight of many of the antelope giving birth as well as many of the migrating European and African birds.
