LALIBELA MARKS CAMP
Lalibela Game Reserve
Eastern Cape
South Africa

Introduction

Lalibela Mark’s Camp is situated in Lalibela Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape. The area is malaria-free and extends over 5 ecosystems, resulting in a breath-taking diversity of flora and fauna. Lalibela now consists of 7,500 hectares (approximately 18,500 acres) of prime bushland, is home to the Big 5 and offers guests a superb safari experience.

Lodge Description

The lodge can accommodate up to 20 guests in four stone and thatch chalets and three family chalets. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom as well as ceiling fans.  The chalets open up onto a private deck with views over the waterhole. Between game drives, guests can relax in the large lounge, bird watch from the viewing decks or laze around the swimming pool. Mark’s Camp has an outdoor dining “boma” for fireside dinners and open-air brunches, as well as a gracious indoor dining area.

Game Viewing

Game drives are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles with experienced game rangers and guests can expect to see a multitude of general game, ranging from elephant, lion, rhino and buffalo to tiny blue duiker and rock hyrax. Lalibela Game Reserve is also home to cheetah, hyena, hippo, giraffe, zebra, warthog and numerous species of antelope, such as eland, kudu, bushbuck and wildebeest. There are no public roads within the 7,500 hectares (18,500 acres) reserve, hence ensures a private safari experience. All the animals (including the predators) roam freely throughout the reserve. Night drives are a highlight and guests will search for the elusive bat-eared fox, aardvark, black-backed jackal, aardwolf and the curious spring hare.
