Camp Description
River Lodge is the Soul of Lion Sands. Positioned on a site, which has trees dating back almost 800 years, the lodge is about spirit, warmth, nature & relaxation. It is hosted by a family of Staff that will make it feel like home from home, relax, enjoy and get to experience African hospitality at its best. The lodge comprises the following: a private lounge and bar, 2 swimming pools, wooden viewing decks, a secluded bird hide, private hammocks, health spa, curio shop & both an indoor and open-air dining area. The philosophy of the safari experience at Lion Sands is to deliver a consistently professional, informative & holistic safari experience, ensuring that all spheres of the eco-system, from the small insects to the mighty African elephant, are covered in as much detail as the Guest may require. The Senior Ecologist, Ranger & Tracker teams have been carefully selected to make certain that your Safari Experience will not only meet but exceed your highest expectations. The luxurious thatched bedrooms with en-suite bathroom, outdoor & inside shower & wooden viewing deck. The bedroom area is air-conditioned with an over-head fan. The rooms are linked to all areas by raised wooden walkways.

Game Viewing
Game viewing at Lion Sands is of a high standard and compares with the best in the world. Guests can expect to see lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and other general game on game drives. As well as exciting bird watching. Wildlife activities here enable guests to 'touch, taste and smell' Africa. Your day begins with a game drive of approximately four hours, accompanied by a qualified ranger and tracker. Guests not only get close to Big Game but also learn to identify birds and trees, taste edible fruit, follow in the footsteps of animals great and small and learn about local bush lore. Become one with the bush as you track silently after the spoor of wildlife during game drives. The night game viewing is an experience of its own. Nocturnal sightings might include bush babies, the elusive genet, or predators hunting and stalking their prey.
